In collaboration with Savuncell A.Ş. and its solution partner, unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance was conducted at the Ankara Kahramankazan Orhaniye Firing Range in accordance with international and national standards. The project ensured safe execution of all clearance activities, including quality assurance/control and post-cleaning certification.
In the project, unexploded ordnance (UXO) locations were identified using a magnetometer detection system mounted on a drone (UAV). The clearance operation covered a 1,066,000 m² area in Turkey, where UXOs were safely excavated and disposed of at a Central Demolition Site (CDS) built underground, following all required safety procedures.
The UAV-mounted magnetometer detection system (UAVMDS) operated at a detection speed of 10 meters per second, scanning the area in one-meter-wide strips. Based on the data collected, a magnetic map was created, identifying approximately 2,500 anomalies, which were then safely excavated by the expert team. At the end of the project, 241 artillery shells, various metal objects, and shrapnel fragments were successfully cleared.
